Implementing Change

The next step was to transform these ideas into tangible results. Dedicated solution teams were formed, each focusing on a specific aspect of the challenge and composed of sponsors, team members, and partners.

One such initiative, named EMPACT for Corporations, aimed to leverage the success of an existing job training and workforce preparedness program, extending its application to local businesses. Another, called Chattanooga Works, sought to improve communication and navigation around available workforce training resources, making it easier for job seekers to connect with employers.

The third solution, the Talent Development Hub, focused on creating a collaborative space at community centers where job seekers could access employers, skills training, tech resources, and support throughout the hiring process.

Measuring the Impact

As the initiatives took shape, the Chamber and its partners closely monitored the results, making adjustments along the way to ensure maximum impact.

“We wanted to see tangible, measurable outcomes,” Winters emphasized. “It wasn’t enough to just come up with great ideas – we needed to translate them into real, meaningful change for the people in our community.”

And the results spoke for themselves. The EMPACT for Corporations program successfully engaged local employers, leading to the development of customized training and job placement opportunities. Chattanooga Works improved awareness and navigation of workforce resources, empowering job seekers to take the next step in their careers. The Talent Development Hub made it easier for individuals to access the support and tools they needed to thrive in the job market.
