Al Judice III Named Father of the Year 2017

The Bridge City Chamber of Commerce held its first annual Father of the Year Contest and received several nominations, all of which were for very deserving fathers.  After careful consideration by the Father of the Year Committee, Al Judice III was awarded the honor.  Mr. Judice was presented his gifts at the Bridge City Chamber’s June Networking Coffee hosted by Golden Triangle Emergency Center where Mayor Pro-Tem Tammi Fisette read aloud the City of Bridge City’s official proclamation naming him 2017 Father of the Year.  Al received over $1000 worth of gift certificates and prizes from the Bridge City Chamber and these generous sponsors:  Anytime Fitness, Barfield Home Inspections and Pest Control, Bridge City Public Library, Candace Aras-RE/MAX ONE, Caryn’s Bakery, Energy Country Ford, Neches Federal Credit Union, Rani Dillow-Westin Mortgage Group, Sabine Federal Credit Union, Sabine River Ford, Sherry Hommel RE/MAX ONE, Tico’s Cuban Cafe, and Tiger Rock Martial Arts Bridge City.  In addition to receiving great gifts from local businesses, the Father of the Year will receive dignitary status in the Bridge City Christmas Light Parade and be recognized at the Bridge City Chamber’s Annual Banquet.

Al was born and raised in Port Arthur, Texas, to parents Lois, of Bridge City, and (the late) A.J. Judice, Jr. along with his four siblings Larry Judice, Debbie Roy, Kevin Judice, and Karen Eddingston.  He attended Catholic schools and later Thomas Jefferson High School.  Al has lived in Bridge City since 1987, when he married Michelle.

Like his father, A. J., and his grandfather, Tabin, before him, he spent his career at Judice’s French Market on 7th Street in Port Arthur, which his grandparents, who were originally from Loreauville, Louisiana, opened in 1927. The quaint, family-owned grocery store specializes in Cajun foods and is renowned for its meat market and deli. Al ran the business for 35 years before retiring and handing over the reins to his son, Al IV. Throughout the years, Al has owned and operated game rooms, a maritime delivery operation, and dabbled in real estate.

Al’s son, Al IV, and his wife, Nickie, live in Bridge City and have four children, Christian, Alexis, A.J. V, and Ashton. His daughter, Alicia (Judice) Romero and her husband, Emilio, also live in Bridge City and have a daughter, Adia. His son, Nickolas, lives in London, England, with his daughter, Nikita. Al has always believed being a father is the greatest event that ever happened to him. Strength, support, and discipline are his strong suits.

Al’s wife Michelle said, “Of all of his many endeavors in life, he whole-heartedly rates his children, grandchildren, and all children he is around as the most precious and enjoyable. While various chapters in Al’s life have opened and closed, he always puts children first and focused on being a good role model. His passion for and dedication to family have never swayed.”
